All opinions/reviews are my own*My husband and I recently bought our first home, and we have been trying since June to make this home ours. While I understand this is an undertaking that takes years to accomplish there are small things that just couldn't wait. One issue I had with the house is the lack of outside lighting. As a makeup artist I come home at all hours from my gigs and when being dropped off by the car the one thing that makes me feel safer is having my home lite up where I can see everything. When we first purchased the home there was not one ounce of lighting. While I do love my neighborhood when it's 11pm at night it looks eerily similar to the set of Nightmare on Elm Street. I'm not about that life so I told the hubs we need to look into some good lighting options ASAP.
The Volmate is a 16 LED Solar Power Motion Sensor Garden Security Lamp Outdoor Waterproof/Weatherproof Light that requires no batteries, which was a huge deal when trying to figure out what worked for our needs. I'm thankful I received this light for review as it gave me the opportunity to test out the product before buying more if we liked them. The quality of this light works extremely well for us.
I am a huge fan of the modern curved look on this solar light, it has an opaque cover with a clear plastic that is not blindingly bright. The cover is made of heavy aluminum so it will not rust or corrode either. It is really perfect for lighting up the front door of our house, this lights your path just as well. The other element to consider in searching for lights of this style is the size of the battery; this light has an 800mAh battery which needs to charge in bright sunlight for 8 hours to fully charge. So you cannot put this light just anywhere. We were able to put this light above our front door and bent it just slightly so it would catch all the morning sunlight for use during the evenings.
There are many features on this light that I am so in love with first I am able to completely forget about it until I need it. There is no power cord to add to my bills, or batteries to constantly change. I really like the pin hold key lock which means intruders cannot turn the light off to break into my house. Also motion is sensed it instantly brightens to discourage any robbers, those possums/skunks that we have been introduced to and my guests can leave the house after a night of eating and drinking at the house without worry.
Installation was very simple as well, just two screws on the back cover and you are set to go. I played with this product in my house a lot before decided if and where we would place it on the outside. I am always wary of attaching things to the house and being these are screws make sure you are 100% okay with placement. The front of our house is brick so it took some time to get this placed where we wanted it but I am happy with how quick and easy it was.
The bottom line this is a great light that works very well and even someone like me is able to install. I feel much safer coming home at night and I like how bright the light is. I will be purchasing a few more to use on the side of the house and on the back deck.
