Random Thought: PR Firms vs The Little Blogger

Dealing with brands and PR Firms can be really draining. Especially for bloggers such as myself. I work a full time job to support my family and my beauty addiction. With all my real life family issues that require my constant attention, blogging has been my source of release. Here I can be funny and goofy. I am able to play with products and be just me. Honest and straight forward.

I started blogging because beauty is my passion, it’s what I love. Unfortunately unlike other "big" name blogs I cannot spend all day buying/receiving products because I need to maintain my 9-5.  Beauty blogging is an expensive endeavor and everything is paid for out of my own pocket. I don't receive or have yet asked for royalties or get any income from any of the posts or links I have on this site. I write and review because I enjoy doing so.  My content isn't always the first on the scene and I get that can be annoying but when it is here you know it's because I worked hard to get it on the site. I am doing my best every day to get more content out.  I understand that this requires more work from me and as I’ve said before I am a very busy woman, but that has not stopped me yet.  I put my all into my blog and it upsets me that these firms cannot see that.  Cannot see that I have more passion in one post of my “little” blog then most of these “bigger” blogs do in a month’s worth material.  I feel I prove that every day when I do this for free, while these other blogs are requesting some of kind of financial “thank you” for working with these companies.

I really do not appreciate it when I take time out of my day to visit firms or brands and I'm dismissed because I'm not considered 'big' enough. I have a readership of 22,000 on average every month. Maybe my numbers do not compete with all the other “big” names YET, but for a “nobody” I don't consider that small. The number of dedicated readers who I interact with and enjoy my content is constantly growing. We will not be dismissed.

I would really love to hear from other bloggers regarding their experiences dealing with PR Firms and Brands.

That is all, Thank You
